D12 Dwadashamsha
Map twelve 2°30′ parts by counting from the natal sign itself.
Phaladeepika 3.4 states that the Dwadashamsha lords are reckoned from the sign itself.
Each 2°30′ part therefore advances one sign, starting with the natal sign as part 1.
D12 is traditionally consulted for lineage/parental themes, but interpretation still begins with the corresponding D1 houses, lords and significators.
Each Varga is a deterministic mapping of the natal longitude using its own subdivision rule. The resulting Varga degree is a derived coordinate inside that divisional chart, not a new astronomical observation.
Use a Varga only for the topic it is meant to refine and always start from the natal D1 promise. More charts do not automatically produce more accuracy if the reader mixes their roles.
